How the purchase works

You tell us the key details of your vehicle: model, first registration, mileage, equipment, known defects and damage. Photos help with the initial assessment. We then look at the vehicle, as far as necessary for an offer, and state an amount.

The offer remains your decision. You can review it in your own time and compare it with other options. If we reach an agreement, we record everything in a written purchase contract. The handover takes place with the documents and keys once the agreed payment is secured. We will give you the details in the specific case.

Have the documents ready as completely as possible. This makes the valuation and the later handover easier. If something is missing, such as a second key or a service booklet, tell us right at the start, because this too can affect the valuation and can be clarified early in this way.

Reference values are derived from similar vehicles with comparable engine, year of manufacture, mileage and equipment. The technical and visual condition, previous accident damage, the completeness of the maintenance history, the time until the next periodic technical inspection and the demand for the model also count. Modifications to the vehicle can have different effects depending on their type.

Values determined online are a guide and take the specific condition into account only to a limited extent. The ADAC points out that a higher price is often possible with a private sale than with a sale to a dealer, while the route via a dealer is generally faster. Weigh this up, and feel free to compare our offer.

Financed and leased vehicles

If your vehicle has not yet been paid off, it often serves as security for the institution. Therefore, clarify in advance the amount of the outstanding debt and where the registration certificate Part II is located. Tell us this right at the start so that we can discuss the settlement process with you.

A leased vehicle belongs to the lessor. You therefore cannot simply sell it. Ending the contract early generally requires the lessor's consent. Please speak to the lessor first.

As long as the vehicle is registered in your name, you remain entered as the keeper. If the keeper changes, the registration authority must be notified without delay, unless the acquirer has already complied with its obligations (§ 15 paragraph 5 FZV). The city of Karlsruhe, like the ADAC, recommends deregistering the vehicle before the sale. The registration office then informs the main customs office and the insurer.

In the purchase contract, we specify how the deregistration is carried out and who takes care of it. At the handover, record the date, time and mileage, hand over all keys and documents, and keep your copies. A deregistered vehicle must not be left in public traffic areas.
